About HAKA
Scope
The Communications Specialist supports the planning and execution of strategic communication initiatives across the Education & Advancement sector. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications Lead, the role supports the development of written and visual communication materials that strengthen institutional positioning, enhance stakeholder engagement, and promote Education & Advancement priorities.
The role combines corporate communications expertise with presentation and visual design skills to develop high-quality executive presentations, reports, digital content, and communication materials that communicate complex information clearly while ensuring alignment with the brand's standards.
Responsibilities
1- Corporate Communications & Content Development
Support the development and delivery of internal and external corporate communication materials across multiple channels, including emails, newsletters, reports, presentations, web content, announcements, and executive communications.
Draft, edit, review, and proofread communication materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional messaging and brand standards.
Support storytelling initiatives that communicate Education & Advancement priorities, strategic initiatives, programs, and institutional impact.
Contribute to the development of messaging and communication approaches for key initiatives.
2- Strategic Communication & Campaign Support
Support the planning and execution of strategic communication plans and campaigns led by the Marketing & Communications Lead.
Provide communication and content support for strategic initiatives, institutional announcements, and leadership communications.
Track project timelines, deliverables, approvals, and communication workflows.
Maintain and update communication calendars and project trackers.
3- Presentation & Visual Communication
Develop and design executive-level presentations, reports, briefing materials, and communication assets that effectively communicate complex information.
Apply visual storytelling principles to create engaging, audience-focused presentations and reports.
Design communication materials using PowerPoint, Canva, and other design tools while ensuring compliance with the company’s visual identity and brand standards.
Collaborate with the Graphic Designer on large-scale creative projects while independently producing high-quality presentation and communication materials.
4- Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather updates, ensure content accuracy, and support alignment across initiatives.
Coordinate with Global Branding & Communications (GBC) and other relevant departments to ensure consistency with institutional messaging and branding.
Work closely with internal teams, designers, and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of communication materials.
5- Events & Communication Support
Support communication and branding activities for events, including invitations, presentations, digital assets, signage, and communication materials.
Develop content for presentations, reports, speeches, and briefing documents in collaboration with subject matter experts.
6- Quality Assurance
Ensure all communication outputs meet high standards of quality, consistency, professionalism, and brand compliance.
Support the Marketing & Communications Lead in preparing communication materials for publication and distribution.
Competencies
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong corporate communication and storytelling capabilities.
Excellent editing, proofreading, and content development skills.
Advanced PowerPoint skills with the ability to create executive-level presentations.
Strong presentation design, visual storytelling, and information design skills.
Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft PowerPoint, with familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) considered an advantage.
Strong understanding of corporate branding and visual identity standards.
Familiarity with web content management systems and digital communication platforms.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Collaborative team player with excellent stakeholder management skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Technologically confident and quick to learn new systems and tools.
Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in corporate communications, communications, marketing, or a related field. ü Demonstrated experience developing written and visual communication materials across multiple formats and channels.
Experience creating executive presentations, reports, and communication materials for leadership and stakeholders.
Experience supporting integrated communication initiatives for internal and external audiences.
Experience in higher education, research, government, or a corporate environment is desirable.
